Sweet Life

A year...

Things have changed so totally that it is hard to believe or digest.

Things have settled down and the finality of the divorce is way over a year ago. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and then sometimes it seems like a lifetime ago. For me, I prefer to look at it in the context of that is what I had to live through to be the person that I am.

My children have made it through too. I can't speak for this afternoon, or tomorrow or next week. But right here, right now... I enjoy a peaceful co-parenting existence with my ex-wife. We've even shared a laugh here and there and that is more than I could have hoped for.

Races

On March (19th), we ran the Parris Island Triathlon (www.setupevents.com). While I was not so happy with the swim and run...the bike portion was excellent for me. I finished the race under 1:30 (1:28:54). This is the first time I have finished in under 1:30 on a sprint. That's just a good thing for me and the struggles I go through with my level of fitness and my weight.

( 4/20/10) Concert Night

Andrew has a strings concert tonight. Joy...
I enjoy Andrew's playing very much... just not the entire group. Very uneven and its hard to listen to ...

The beauty of the experience is the double whammy of seeing the ex and ex-in-laws AND the Ashley Estates trash all in one setting.

Costa Rica 4/2 - Getting there...

Flight is @ 6AM. Spending the night at Jen's house.

I thought I was packed. I have a real problem ever being completely packed because I can't seem to settle on everything I want to carry until I actually get it all out the door. It's ridiculous but that's the way I operate.

Therefore I repacked at her house. I had a luggage scale that sort of worked and I think I must have shed about 5 pounds of weight from the luggage. I thought this would place me WELL under the 50 lb limit (stay tuned). I then stayed up till 1AM for no good reason ... slept till about 3:30AM.

Got up and grabbed our bags and coffee and headed for the airport. Once we arrived, we took turns waiting in the car outside while each checked in. Jen first...then me.

So ... I checked in and threw my bag up on the scale...thinking "Wow I packed light this time...I am so impressed with myself". The scale read 49.5....geez. So much for packing minimally.

Time to park... so I left the carry-ons with Jennifer and proceeded to long-term parking. Met her in the terminal and proceeded to the gate.

I put a mirror under her nose several times to make sure she was still breathing.
